“Greater love has no one than this; to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John 15:13
We are a community of individuals drawn together by the belief that there is no greater calling in life than to serve others, especially those faced with the challenge of disability. Every person in our community deserves respect, support and care. People cannot shine without those blessings in their life, and only other people can give those gifts. We make it our mission to do that for our friends and neighbors every day.
We are called “Best Friends” because that is exactly what we try to be for people. The idea is simple. Instead of denying that people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) exist, we embrace, encourage and support them. We do this in a variety of ways for people with IDD and their caretakers, from simply listening to them to; providing residential services, respite services, day habilitation, therapy, transportation, social work, advocacy and many more much-needed services. We also carefully build a welcoming community that includes many recreational activities, events and spiritual opportunities.
Our staff is made up of people passionate about helping others gain confidence and grow into their best selves. Many of our staff describe what they do as a calling, something they feel compelled to do by a spirit of compassion for others. Each one of our staff members has a true desire to become the serviced individual’s best friend, helping them through any challenges while sharing in the joys of small victories.
Whether you are a caregiver, a potential recipient of our services, a healthcare provider or just a citizen of the greater community, Welcome to Best Friends. We love making new friends and finding ways to further connect. Please explore our site to learn more about us, check out our Facebook page to see what we’ve been up to, or contact us to begin a relationship.
